¡Viva Villa! looking for an exhibition curator

For its next edition, ¡Viva Villa! , the festival which highlights the residents of Casa de Velázquez, Villa Kujoyama and Villa Medici, is changing its format and is looking for an exhibition curator, who will occasionally be in curatorial residency in Madrid, Kyoto and Rome. Deadline for submitting applications: January 25, 2021.

After five editions presented in Paris, Marseille and Avignon, the ¡Viva Villa! takes on new impetus and reinvents its format: the multidisciplinary group exhibition bringing together residents of the three institutions will now take place every two years. This biennial will showcase the work of two promotions of artists, creators and researchers from each residency, i.e. between 50 and 70 talents.

As part of the 2022 edition of the festival, ¡Viva Villa! launches a call for applications for a curatorial residency for French-speaking curators, without age limit or nationality criteria.

The curatorial residence is part of an unprecedented welcome program between the three organizing institutions, the Académie de France in Rome – Villa Medici, the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid, the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, in collaboration with the Lambert Collection in Avignon, associate partner of this pilot edition of the biennial of artist residencies.

The curator in residence will be entrusted with the co-curation of the 2022 edition of the ¡Viva Villa! which will be held in the fall of 2022 at the Collection Lambert in Avignon, jointly with the deputy artistic director of the Collection Lambert.

During two cultural seasons, the co-curator will carry out a series of one-month stays in Rome, Madrid, Kyoto and Avignon in order to conceive the curatorial project with the artists, creators and researchers hosted in the three artist residencies. abroad. She or he will be in charge of ensuring the design and production of an exhibition, the development of artistic actions for the public and the editorial monitoring of the catalog.
