Le rendez-vous de la création organisé par l’APCI (association de promotion du design français) reprend du 7 au 28 septembre avec plusieurs centaines d’événements partout en France. Tour d’horizon en cinq projets.
Overcycled habitat in Tours
Throughout France Design Week, the design promotion association Valesens and the real estate operator Ligeris are organizing visits of the future student residence at 153, avenue de Grammont in Tours, furnished with rehabilitated objects. Led by designers and social integration teams, this project consists of collecting waste, sorting it, then designing and manufacturing overcycled furniture (desks, cabinets, chairs, closets, coffee tables…). Two hundred pieces of furniture were produced from bulky items. The event also includes an exhibition at the Hôtel consulaire and open doors at the workshop in Saint-Paterne-Racan (about 40 minutes from Tours).
Porcelain furniture in Limoges
The city of Limoges highlights the work of ceramists and enamellers in its urban furniture. A heritage to discover along the streets: creations of the designer Marc Aurel made by Porcelaines Arquié in front of the city hall, seats made by Merigous Porcelaine, Aimé-Césaire square or Saint-Michel-des-Lions square, posts in front of the tourist office and in the district of La Cité… Without forgetting the cité judiciaire, decorated with Bernardaud porcelain tiles, the Pavillon du Verdurier, in the Art Deco style, and the Halles centrales de Limoges.
An eco-designed store in Nantes
On September 19, ethical clothing brand Faguo and design studio Fairly are hosting a conversation about the brand’s new circular economy-inspired store concept. The approach involves choosing sustainable materials, prescribing second-hand furniture and highlighting the services offered by Faguo, such as repair and reuse. All this while respecting a budget per square meter and a sustainable deployment rate for the brand and its affiliates. Beyond this practical case, this meeting will be an opportunity to reflect on a more responsible trade.
Fifteen designers honored in Montpellier
From September 7 to 14, Halle Tropisme, a cultural third place in Montpellier, hosts “Matières-15 designer-euse-s montpellierain s’exposent”, an exhibition to promote the diversity of design professions: visual identity, typography, furniture, digital … On 80 m2The designers present their creative process, their tests, the raw materials used. The opening will take place on September 7, followed by creative workshops and school visits. The event is organized by the association Pulse, with Design Occitanie and the printing company Tomoe.
Circular economy in Saint-Malo
The Higher Institute of Design in Saint-Malo is organizing three days of programming around the theme “Design & Circular Economy(s)”, from September 22 to 24. Lectures and round tables will be led by designers and teacher-researchers, with also exhibitions, project defenses, a workshop to explore circular futures and a circular picnic in conclusion.
