French design in the spotlight at the 8th edition of BIG (BPI FRANCE INNO GENERATION)
The French Institute of Design (IFD)
exhibits at BIG 2022 the great fresco of French Design,
“Memory & Vision I 1950-2030
on Thursday (8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.) at the Accor Arena, and presents a list of remarkable initiatives related to the 10 objectives of the Plan France 2030.
The Metamorphosis: it is what goes beyond the forms. The theme chosen for BIG 2022 calls for a profound reconfiguration of the way we think and act.
How to do ? Get into the design method.
The fresco illustrates a fascinating adventure of French design where the spirit of an era is told, decade by decade: the most recognized visionary personalities, the most iconic achievements, the most striking socio-cultural facts, the innovations that have contributed most to changing our modes of production and accompanying new uses, which have made the genius of France.
What about tomorrow? The France 2030 plan, a vast investment plan for the future announced by the Élysée Palace in October 2021, is more broadly a true societal project, whose ambition is to prepare the France of tomorrow by supporting the technological and economic influence of the country in various fields such as the development of a hydrogen industry, investment in healthy and sustainable food, exploration of the deep seabed or the relaunch of the space conquest.
Design is at the heart of any metamorphosis and its contribution to the France 2030 plan is essential. The first list of remarkable initiatives related to the 10 objectives of the France 2030 plan in the “Memory & Vision 1950-2030” fresco is testimony to this: new printing processes, energy autonomous servers, hydrogen-powered aircraft concepts, space station housing modules, autonomous underwater robots, oceanography, farm produce kiosks distributed in connected lockers, revalorization of “forgotten” furniture from history, corporate game to reduce its carbon footprint by 1000 tons or the redefinition of the use of involuntary restraint, these are the projects of tomorrow open to an industry in the process of inventing itself and aware of the part they must play in a changing society. Hospitals, transportation, urban planning, ecology, all sectors where design opens up possibilities, adapts and models solutions.
“The first book of Ovid’s Metamorphoses tells of the creation of the world: let us not be afraid to recreate our own, let us dare to metamorphose!
Anne-Marie Sargueil,
President of the French Institute of Design
Yesterday, today, tomorrow, design remains the problem-solving methodology that allows to drive innovation, develop business success, leading to improve our quality of life!
