The ODP Letter N°666

Week of 06.08.2022

TuesdayWednesdayThursdayFridaySaturday
SundayMonday

Welcome to NEW!

As the 12th edition of Paris Design Week, which celebrates design in all its forms in the capital alongside Maison & Objet, gets underway, the odp is re-NEW-ing to guide you even better!
And for this diabolical issue, new name: L’odp, substantive marrow of THEONLYDESIGNPARTYFORFREEANDEVERYTHINGYOUSHOULDKNOWABOUTDESIGNINPARISWEEKLYLETTER, new logo, similar to a “function” key that simplifies your life, new Internet address: odp.design to get to the point, a new day of publication – Friday – to organize your To-See list, a new formula starting next week on our new Instagram odp.design for a glimpse of what you couldn’t see but that we saw, and finally, new voices to accompany Sandra Biaggi, who, like the god Shiva, multiplies herself to better serve you

I forgot.

Sandra Biaggi has kindly entrusted me with her keyboard to announce the best news ever: the launch of Allegria, her first creation edited by Maison Papier and manufactured by the workshop Procédés Chénel. She sends her greetings and looks forward to seeing you at the very end of the newsletter, where Nathalie Degardin, editor of Intramuros, will tell you more.

ALLEGRIA IN PARIS?

Invisible cities, towards a poetics of data? – 4pm / 4:50pm

Talk PDW organized and moderated by Anne-Marie Sargueil, President of the French Institute of Design. A new urban landscape is taking shape: with the appearance of smart cameras, sound recognition devices or particle detectors… we are witnessing a massive collection of data present in our environment. How to provide more transparency around urban data collection? What if new human-data interactions were possible? What if this material, the data, took shape to serve the poetics of cities and the interest of citizens? During a round table discussion, the aim is to question a sensitive experience of the city: embodying data to make it visible, palpable, audible, olfactory… accessible and democratic.

With Nouredine Azzouk, President of Nation Numérique, digital advisor to the National Assembly, Hubert Berroche, Founder of Urban AI, Chafik Gasmi, Architect and designer, Chafik Studio, Claire Tréfoux, Head of design and Co-founder of the Design Lab Thales

Lighting up

For years, Sandra Biaggi has been observing with acuity what drives design in France and elsewhere. In its federative newsletter, it announces and shares major events as well as the most confidential ones, deciphers the unmissable events, and spots emerging talents and promising projects. It thus participates in bringing design to life in France and, over time, has developed a solid network, a community. As I rub shoulders with her at openings and conferences, and as I solicit her for articles, I sometimes forget that if Sandra is concerned with transmitting and “sharing knowledge”, she is also in the business of “doing”: a designer trained at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs, she obviously carries out her own projects, and regularly signs stage designs, with the objective of designing as precisely as possible, as functionally as possible, without forgetting the aesthetic dimension.

For a design exhibition at the Spanish Embassy, she cleverly developed with Procédés Chanel a device based on the shape of a fan, which cleverly enhanced the pieces on display while separating the spaces. Light, easily transportable and reusable, it caught the attention of Claire Germouty, editor of Maison Papier, for its multiple applications: in retail, for shootings, in residential…

Named Allegria, it will be presented from September 8 to 12 in the Paris Design Week selection, at 7 rue Froissart, with other exhibitors of young creation, including an Intramuros exhibition. There is no doubt that the prescribers will be there.
