mardimercredijeudivendredisamedi
• dimanche • lundi •

To take a stand is to commit. The designer can change looks, question the functioning of our society, our uses and question elements rooted in our habits.

That of the missionary, which in this world is far from being the simplest, no offense to bad sleepers, is the one we offer to introduce your week. Whether you are in construction or furniture, if you like to raise the everyday object industry high through your human and environmental values, or to make beauty out of ugly, conferences, exhibitions and awards ceremonies over the next few days are for you.

Sustainable innovation in zero waste is the main theme of your meetings this early summer!

So, enjoy and above all, take care!

Puisqu’on en parle

Recycling is heavy!

Olivier Saguez had already rehabilitated a first disused Manufacture in 2003.

A veritable laboratory of sustainable design, the Manufacture du Design – headquarters of the Saguez & Partners agency – established in the former Alstom hall and committed to its territory, tests and develops what it imagines, studies and prescribes for its customers for tomorrow. .

In constant search for sustainable initiatives with entrepreneurs developing new responsible products, the agency is pursuing the mission it has set itself with Komut , by hosting the exhibition-unpacking “Plastic is chic!” if it’s recycled” until the end of November. An exhibition that is part of the agency’s global policy in terms of sustainable development: thinking about and creating new uses that are more ethical and more responsible for people and the planet.

Remember, if necessary, that of the 400 million tonnes of plastic produced each year in the world, only 9% of the plastic is recycled.

In France, each French person generates 70 kilos of plastic waste per year. More than 1.3 million tons of furniture is thrown away every year… and ends up buried, burned or exported in the wild.

Gold, Komut – founded in 2020 by Yutyng Chiu and Philippe Tissot, a craftsman at the service of ecological emergency! uses today’s waste to create furniture that is innovative, sustainable and 100% circular!

Plastic packaging (whether Polystyrene, Polypropylene, Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and Polyethylene Glycosé – it would almost make you thirsty!), or PVC door and window frames from demolished buildings… are regenerated into single-material furniture, recyclable and recycled, using a zero waste production method using 3D printing, carbon neutral, made on demand in Pantin in Seine-Saint-Denis.

Moreover, this waste presented during the exhibition comes entirely from the sorting center in Pantin, Lemon Tri , a company that collects, packages and recycles more than thirty different waste streams to fight against landfilling and incineration.

For a 100% circular economy, all Komut creations are made from a single material without lacquer or surface treatment, to ensure their full recyclability, facilitating their grinding and reuse as raw material for future productions. . Komut is also certified by the ESUS label (Solidarity and Social Utility Company obtaining in progress Q3/2022).

A ton of material thus recycled makes it possible to recycle 60 chairs!

Komut therefore uses recycled raw materials, creating products that are 100% recyclable and manufactured only on demand.

Thanks to all these actions, the company has a totally neutral carbon footprint. The manufacture of furniture generates 85% less CO2 than furniture made from virgin raw materials.

By recycling 10 tonnes of plastic, Komut saves as much CO2 as that stored by 12 hectares of forest each year.

Finally, the robots and 3D printing technologies developed by Komut allow a sober and zero waste production method.

The technique only consumes the material it needs to make the furniture. At the end of its life, Komut consigns the furniture then re-prints it. A QR Code label even makes it possible to know the origin of the materials and ensures 100% recycling. When a prototype is not suitable, it is passed to the grinder and reused immediately to print a new piece of furniture.

Go and have a look at it, it will be useful to others… There is enough to bet on the big bets of Grand Paris!
