The game of illusions by valerie_objects

Inspired by Magritte’s famous “Ceci n’est pas une pipe”, valerie_objects’ collections play on perceptions and illusions to make us see all colors… and all shapes.

Duckling, flask, lamp… the designers solicited by the Belgian editor valerie_objects had fun playing with illusions and shapes to think of several of their collections.

This is not a top hat

For the Dishes to Dishes collection, named after the song “Ashes to Ashes” by David Bowie, designer Glenn Sesting imagines plates and bowls that have been thought of in such a way that the assembly of the base of one or the other forms the lid of the lower part.

This is not a lamp

At first glance, the Maarten Bass pepper tree looks like a lamp. To imagine this realization, the designer was inspired by the archetype of the pepper mill: a cylinder with a round head.

This is not a duckling

Presented at an exhibition in Berlin last November, the Inner Circle collection by Maarten Bass is a set of glass objects, whose decanter is oddly reminiscent of a duckling.

This is not a ring toss game

The Trivets trivets from Muller Van Severen are made of a thin steel contour. Once assembled on top of each other, the mixture of shapes offers an abstract work with colorful lines.

This is not a flask

This salt and pepper shaker set designed by Nendo is made of glass bottles. The transparent effect is a key element of his work because it allows you to look at the peppercorns or salt like raindrops through a frosted window.
