On the occasion of the World Optical Eyewear Fair which will take place in Villepinte from September 23 to 26, 2022, SILMO has decided to launch its optical design competition for all students, adults and enrolled in a design course. For this first edition, the presidency of the jury was entrusted to designer Emmanuel Gallina. Registrations are open until June 3.
In order to encourage designers to turn to the design of optical objects, SILMO Paris is organizing its international optical design competition. Intended for students in the 3rd, 4th and 5th year of a design course, the competition aims to encourage students to turn to another type of design. The latter is open to individual or group projects.
Eligibility criteria for the SILMO 2022 competition
The proposed projects should logically be part of an approach linked to optical design. Lenses, frames, connected objects, materials for opticians… there are many possibilities in the sector. The projects presented will then be judged according to their design, creative and innovative dimension, the use and function of the product, the intrinsic feasibility of the project and the integration of a social and environmental responsibility approach.
