Talents & Co, an international project and career management consulting agency specializing in the fields of architecture and design, and the Ile-de-France Region have launched a call for applications for design, through a design approach , the Documentation and Information Center “of the future” for secondary schools in Ile-de-France.
Designers are invited to imagine an innovative concept, modular and adaptable to all CDIs in the Île-de-France region.
Technological developments have upset the conditions of access to information and knowledge, and have created new needs and new training conditions. This digital transformation has never ceased to question stakeholders in the world of education, leading to a change in teaching practices and in the relationship between teachers and learners.
This approach is therefore part of a reflection by the Ile-de-France Region to transform the Documentation and Information Center, the heart of the school, into a new place to live and learn : a “CDI of the future” intended to ensure a reception of all the public of the school communities, and to answer the primary missions of this space carried by the professors librarians.
The candidate teams selected to participate in the consultation will be selected in view of the following identified skills necessary for the operation as envisaged:
- Service design
- Space design
- Product design (including furniture)
- Message design (signage)
- Use of digital technology and networks
- Acoustic
- Construction economics
Submission of candidacies
The deadline for submitting applications was set at April 30, 2020 at 5 p.m., delivery of services on July 31, 2020, designation of the winner in December 2020 for the start of the design mission in January 2021.
The documents of the call for candidates (terms, return, evaluation criteria, compensation, etc.) can be downloaded here .
At the end of the call for applications, five teams will be selected for the second phase and will be able to submit their innovative concept before July 31, 2020, to be rolled out in six (6) pilot sites from January 2021.
These pilot sites in Ile-de-France will be unveiled during the second phase. They were selected for the diversity of their location, their architecture and the variety of their educational structure. These sites have a floor space of between 300 and 50 m2. The design concept that will be proposed by the candidates must respect a budget of 700 € / m2 of floor space, furniture included, but excluding equipment.
Beyond these six pilot CDIs, the concept should be adaptable to all CDI high schools in the Ile-de-France region . The mission will therefore be difficult because the concept will be extremely flexible while respecting a number of material constraints such as the number of users, surfaces, safety, etc.
The project should also be part of an environmental approach : low energy consumption, acoustic and visual comfort for users, choice of materials (use of bio-based materials), optimization of the maintenance of spaces and furniture.
