The Mobilier national invites to the Villa Savoye and the Maison de fer for two exceptional exhibitions on modern seating and metal design.
Until September 26, 2021, the two historic sites of Poissy in Yvelines open their doors to exhibit the creations of the ARC, the national furniture research and creation workshop.
The Villa Savoye, an emblematic monument of Le Corbusier who is celebrating his 90th birthday, exhibits original or reissued pieces that demonstrate his research on tubular metal, from the low seats of the 1960s to the armchairs in flax fiber or fiber. carbon created in the 2010s. Commissioned by Pierre and Eugénie Savoye in 1928 in order to make it a weekend house, it brings together the five points of the new architecture formulated in 1927: stilts, roof garden, free plan, free facade and banner window. This “machine for living” continues to have a considerable influence in the history of architecture.
As for the Maison de Fer, it hosts around ten pieces by Pierre Paulin, Olivier Védrine, Jean Nouvel, Martin Szekely, Roger Legrand, Ronan Bouroullec, Salomé de Fontanieu or Frédéric Rettant which echo the metal structure of this building. Structures and stamped sheets patented by Belgian engineer Joseph Danly bear witness to the industrial era of the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century when these constructions were synonymous with innovation, modernity and comfort. They are part of the Paris Design Week 2021 route.
