Maria Porro takes the helm of Assarredo

Maria Porro has just been unanimously elected president of Assarredo, the Italian National Association of Furniture Manufacturing Industries. Responsible for marketing and communication for Porro, a nearly century-old company founded by her grandfather, she had already been advising the association for several years.

By taking up her new functions, Maria Porro intends to place Assarredo at the heart of current issues and has designed a program around 7 major objectives: environmental sustainability, proactive role in defining the rules governing the sector, protection of the originality of Italian furniture on the global market, safeguarding the Salone del Mobile, prospecting for new markets, the development of new technologies and a greater digital culture, dialogue with schools.

“I am convinced that the creation of a system is fundamental; the numbers of our time are complex and, as the Covid emergency shows, the need to respond quickly to transformations is essential. I therefore think that it is essential to support companies in the process of innovation and change, both towards greater environmental sustainability, by directing our energies in the specific formation of human capital, both in the ‘interception of institutional funding and in the monitoring and involvement of the supply chain. But above all, we must enhance and communicate the strength already inherent in our products, which are the expression of a virtuous manufacturing system and a model focused on quality and sustainability. We will have four intense years ahead of us and I would like to thank everyone for the trust placed in me. , she expressed during the last general assembly.

A journey reflecting a strong and lasting link with the world of design

Born in 1984, Maria Porro trained in Fine Arts and worked for a time in the world of art, theater and events, while always staying in touch with the family business and the design, whether in product development with Piero Lissoni’s studio, and overseeing Porro’s presence at Salone del Mobile.
She joined the company permanently in 2014, to strengthen the international commercial network, renew the strategies of In 2017, she promoted the entry of Porro into Altagamma, a foundation that brings together excellent companies from the Italian cultural and creative sector.
