A new equipment dedicated to crafts and design will open its doors this summer. Located on the edge of the Manufacture de Céramique de Sèvres and the Domaine national de Saint-Cloud, in two adjoining buildings classified as Historic Monuments, this Garden of Crafts and Design (JAD) will welcome professionals in around twenty workshops and collective spaces. Also on the program, coworking and conviviality spaces, showroom, makerlab, incubator… The place will be open to the public from September as part of a dedicated programme. The call for applications is open until March 31.
The Garden of crafts and design is the result of the desire of the Hauts-de-Seine department to offer cultural facilities dedicated to crafts and design. Thus, these are two adjoining buildings located in the municipalities of Sèvres and Saint-Cloud in the west of Paris that make up this new institution. On the work side, the rehabilitation of the buildings was carried out by the De Ponthaud agency. The JAD aims to be a place of creation, innovation and exchanges aimed at professionals from both disciplines. Until March 31, an international call for applications is launched for designers and craftsmen who wish to join the JAD workshops for joint projects.
The JAD: 2600m2 conducive to sharing and creation
The JAD is two buildings, three levels and a total surface area of 2600m2. Completely renovated, the structure offers individual or shared rental of around twenty workshops (between 30m2 and 110m2), intended for professionals. It also consists of shared workshops, a markerlab , an incubator, a showroom, a convivial space as well as meeting and reception rooms. A multi-use place that aims to be conducive to experimentation, research and above all the transmission of rare and traditional know-how.
Beyond the multiplicity of its services, the strength of JAD lies both in its economic accessibility, its stimulating environment and in its support adapted to each one which allows professionals to establish themselves more easily in the territory. In addition to these parameters, the JAD is also an ideal meeting place between professionals and the public but also to promote exchanges between the two disciplines.
In addition, the JAD will offer, from September 2022, a cultural program open to both amateur audiences, learners and associated professionals.
JAD: A call for applications extended until March 31
With a view to attracting as many craftsmen and designers as possible to come and share their know-how or attract those who wish to immerse themselves in it, the JAD launched an international call for applications between February 1 and March 31. It is open to all professionals working in the art and design professions who wish to establish a collaboration with the aim of transmitting and promoting their know-how. The selected candidates will form a strong group of their respective experience and who will thus be able to work in complementarity with each other.
