Italian Design Day 2022 conference: meet at Maison & Objet on March 24 at 4 p.m., hall 7

Launched in 2017 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration and with the support of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Italian Design Day is an annual thematic event that seeks to promote Italian design in the world. For this sixth edition in France, the Italian Embassy, with the collaboration of the Consulate General of Italy in Paris and ICE–Agence, is organizing the Design Day as part of the next edition of the Maison & Objet fair (24–28 March). You will be able to discover, under the coordination of ICE–Agency, about 150 Italian companies from the design and furniture sectors.

It is therefore impossible to imagine a more appropriate setting to talk about Italian Design: on March 24, the opening day of the show, Maison & Objet will offer its conference area, from 4 to 5 p.m., for a dialogue between Andrea Rosso, ambassador of development sustainability from Diesel, an OTB Group brand, and Roddy Clarke, design journalist and columnist for the Financial Times . After a speech from the Italian Embassy in Paris, the two guests will share their ideas on the topic of sustainability in fashionable design. Intramuros readers will be able to follow the debate on video from May on the following link: www.academy.maison-objet.com/fr

The support of Italian institutions for the exports of the sector has been reinforced during and after the pandemic with extremely satisfactory results. Italian furniture exports have shown extraordinary resilience and resilience. The year 2020 ended with a drop, compared to 2019, of 11.4% in a context of closures and the collapse of world trade. On the other hand, exports recovered and closed 2021 with an increase of +22.3%, exceeding 1.5 billion in turnover, better than in 2019.

Finally, a word on the Salone del Mobile in Milan, which will be held from June 7 to 12, 2022. The 2022 edition will be rich in novelties and will focus on the theme of sustainability, with a focus on the progress made in this area by creatives, designers and companies. The world of design must face new challenges: to make its production sustainable and to help re-imagine life and spaces in the emerging context of telework.

Don’t miss the Italian Design Day conference with Andrea Rosso, on March 24 at Maison & Objet, at 4 p.m., hall 7.
