Italian lighting brand Catellani & Smith has received double recognition for two of its lights: Ettorino BIG and Sfera W.
Established in 1950 by Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen and Edgar J. Kaufmann Jr , the Good Design Awards are presented annually to honor products and leaders in the design and manufacturing industry who have broken new ground in design innovation. Last year, the Catellani & Smith U lamp seduced the jury. This year again, the Italian brand stood out as two of its creations – Ettorino Big and Sfera W – were awarded after the jury evaluated precise criteria based on creativity, innovation, brand image, materials and technologies used.
Ettorino Big, the innovative
Preceded by the development of an innovative movement system that has been patented, Ettorino BIG is a large floor lamp that diffuses light evenly, thanks to a system of COB LEDs of 15W and 220 lumens and its optical lens “very wide. Ettorino BIG is designed to illuminate a living room or table up to 200 cm long.

Sfera W, the elegant
The second winner of this 2022 edition is the Sfera W wall lamp, which plays on the mirror surface effect, capturing the reflection of its observer. In terms of innovation, Sfera W has no visible mechanical fasteners, its design being made to ensure the perfect elegance of the spherical shape. The direction of the light beam can be chosen when mounting the lamp, depending on the position of the bracket.
