“Hartung 80” highlights his last period, always fruitful, divided into seven sequences.

Full of energy, flashes and chromatic depths, the forms resulting from a controlled gesture and happy accidents emancipate themselves. And for the first time, the gallery is organizing a very studied dialogue with the famous American abstract expressionism and Colorfield, Mark Rothko.

Under the curatorship of Thomas Schlesser director of the Hartung-Bergman Foundation, Rothko Hartung, a multifaceted friendship evokes the plastic and intimate relationships of two artists with many points in common, also through photographic archives and a documentary by Christopher Rothko, son of the ‘artist.

Exceptional loan from the National Museum of Modern Art – Center Pompidou, N ° 14 Browns over dark painted in 1963 by Rothko converses with four Hartung paintings from the same period. These high-level exhibitions, through the physical experience they provide, are unmissable.
