On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of its iconic vase, the Manufacture des Emaux de Longwy invites young designers to reinvent the Art Deco ball, both in terms of decoration and form. Deadline for applications: June 15.
According to Martin Pietri, president of the Manufacture des Emaux de Longwy, “Longwy is a house that has captured the spirit of the times in each era to always be at the heart of creation, a driving force in the decorative arts. The Art Deco vase is a perfect example of our love affair with design. I am convinced that creation must be a perpetual movement. This is why I decided to launch this challenge to young designers. ”
Indeed, to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Art Deco ball, the Manufacture des Emaux de Longwy is organizing a major design competition. The objective: to imagine the contemporary version of this piece which has made the House famous for nearly a century. For the first time of its history, the Manufacture thus invites young designers and artists under 30 to offer their vision of the Art Deco ball, both in its shape and in the decor.
The winners will receive a reward with a value of between € 3,000 for the 1st Prize and € 1,000 for the 2nd and 3rd Prize. Each of them will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in several days in the workshops of the Manufacture in order to deepen their knowledge.
The 1st Prize winning project will be produced in a limited series and presented to the public in January 2022. The new shape will become part of the Manufacture’s catalog and can serve as a support for future decorations.
