Dubai Design Week 2020 is confirmed and will take place from November 9 to 14. It will focus on the role of designers and creators in redefining our way of life. Themes linked to the locality, collective work, the future imagination and the sharing of public space in a context of physical restrictions and mobility will therefore animate this year’s edition. Adapting to sanitary conditions, the Downtown Design fair will be in digital version. Selection of the main points of the program while waiting for the opening.
– In the Dubai Design District (d3), the 2020 edition will feature a series of installations and urban interventions and outdoor experiences.
–In a world premiere, the first MENA Grad Show will present academic projects focused on social impact innovation in the fields of technology, science and design and which showcases selected projects from more than 200 submissions from more than 35 universities based in the Middle East and in North Africa.
– The Iraqi designer Hozan Zangana This year’s commissioned winner Abwab will propose “Fata Morgana”, a conceptual framework in an open arrangement with focal pillars representing each of the seven emirates.
-THE’ UAE designers exhibition will present the work of 20 emerging designers, representing current local creative production.
– Downtown Design, the main design fair in the region, returns with a revamped edition, adapted to the specifics of this year marked by the health crisis, and will bring together the design community on physical and digital platforms. It will be complemented by a program of virtual conferences and a design exhibition “The Shape of things to come” of Downtown Design will present interior design and architectural concepts of the future.
