It is in the heart of Paris, Quai des Grands Augustin, that Carl Hansen & Søn has chosen to set up its first French flagship. For the opening, Inger M. Jensen Hansen, CCO, retail and accessories director of the century-old Danish house, chose to particularly highlight the brand’s icons, in a chic and warm layout.
Founded in 1908, Carl Hansen & Søn is a family business that has seen three generations succeed one another. Since its creation, the house has called on Danish masters, such as Hans J. Wegner, Kaare Klint, Poul Kjærholm, Arne Jacobsen and Børge Mogensen. And thus ensured a strong image, in particular on the design of the 50s & 60s, between classic lines, and great technicality. In the Parisian showroom, we find in particular the KK96620 armchair created in 1914 by Kaare Klint for the opening of the Faaboorg museum, the Wishbone Chair in black or natural version and the Shell Chair designed by Hans J Wegner, with striking curves. Also on display are the Addition sofa (designed by Kaare Klint), the Egyptian folding stool (designed by Mogens Lassen) and the AJ52 desk (designed by Arne Jacobsen). Many accessories (leather pouches, wood or ceramic sculptures, small bags, etc.), carefully selected by Inger M. Jensen Hansen, support the elegant and natural spirit of the brand, while distilling a slightly offbeat note that avoids a side vintage too much.
For Knud Erik Hansen, current CEO of the Danish house, “The French market is showing growing interest in classic furniture” . Hence this Rive Gauche installation: “Like all of our flagship stores, the Paris boutique will present samples of the most popular textiles and woods. In addition, our qualified staff, expert in customer advice, will be able to assist our visitors in choosing their parts and materials ”
