French brand Pylones is organizing its first design competition, the Pylones Pop Design Awards. Applications are open until March 15, 2023.
For 37 years, Pylones has been offering colorful pop creations. On the occasion of its participation in the 3rd edition of France Design Week last September, Pylones decided to open a new competition for students and young graduates in design and applied arts on the following theme: “Smile, you’re at the table! At the end of the deliberations, four prizes will be awarded, including a “public prize”.
To select the winners, six design experts will come together for the occasion:
- Jacques Guillemet, founder and president of PYLONES
- Sophie Roberty, designer, artist and researcher
- Olivier Védrine, designer and co-founder of the agency [o,o]
- Sophie Chénel, director of Procédés Chénel International, a family business of “paper architectures
- Marianne Guedin, graduate of ENSAD in object design, creator of her own publishing house
- Imke Plinta, German urban-graphic artist, teacher and exhibition curator
Conditions of participation
The Pylones Pop Design Award competition is open to any person of legal age who is a student or graduate of a design or applied arts program within the last two years. The latter must also reside in French-speaking Europe. Applicants must apply by March 15, either individually or as a group (up to three people per group). Each applicant may submit up to three pieces of work, which may be in the form of a computer-assisted or freehand drawing, a model, or a prototype.

April 2023: Pre-selection of candidates and meeting of the jury members to determine the 3 winners
From March 18, 2023 to April 15, 2023: opening of the online voting which will allow to determine the 4th winner who will obtain the “Public Prize”
September 2023: Exhibition of the works of the 10 finalists + award ceremony on September 15, 2023 in Paris
