If he had already approached the bathroom from the point of view of lighting, for his first collection of elements, the Briton Tom Dixon collaborated with an expert in the field: VitrA. The Liquid collection is thus the result of a close collaboration between the designer and the brand’s internal design studio.
Recognized on the international scene for his creations of furniture, lighting and accessories, Tom Dixon is investing this time in the world of the bathroom with a first collaboration with VitrA. Very soberly baptized Liquid, – in reference to the world of water – the collection thus takes up the enhancement of the material which is at the heart of the designer’s work, through the use of ceramics, tinted glass, glossy lacquer and chrome-plated brass. For this work, the designer designed the elements of a complete collection: from pieces of furniture to taps.
Liquid, a predominantly round collection
Like a guideline, the designer plays with curves, shapes, reliefs, in all the pieces presented and plays with black and white contrasts. The result is a collection with a playful spirit, with joyful, generous, reassuring shapes, which one quickly appropriates. The designer and the studio indeed wanted to offer simple pieces: “The trick is to create an object that is simple to ensure that people instinctively understand what it is for”.
Drawing inspiration from the volumes of Victorian bathrooms, Tom Dixon has developed Liquid, a collection with playful and practical grammar, which comes to energize the space, in the forms and the relationship to the material. A first successful association, therefore, between VitrA and the Briton.
