A new outdoor collection for Gubi

After a first outdoor collection in 2022, Danish brand Gubi repeats the experience with a 2023 collection that takes outdoor living to new levels of luxury and leisure.

With colorful new designs, outdoor-friendly re-editions and the introduction of portable and outdoor lighting, Gubi’s new 2023 outdoor collection offers optimal comfort for shaping spaces as summer arrives. A collection featuring a series of new pieces, with improved upholstery fabrics, as well as the presentation of the very first dedicated exterior lighting.

Inspired by trips to the Pacific coast, the Carmel table collection introduces the use of a new material for Gubi: ceramics. With particular reference to the carefree, easygoing and unconventional lifestyle of the California resort of Carmel-by-the-Sea, the OEO studio has developed a collection of coffee tables in different heights and sizes, colorful and full of personality.

Its low-slung wooden frame and rope seat, a reference to the nautical world, immediately made it ideal for outdoor use. Two years after its initial release, Mathias Steen Rasmussen responded to this demand by developing a version specially designed for outdoor use. While the structure of the indoor edition is made of oak or walnut, the outdoor version of MR01 is made of certified iroko. A wood perfectly suited to Mathias Steen Rasmussen’s design, retaining its strong silhouette in the transition to the outdoors and helping to underline the sculptural quality of the MR01 Initiale chair.

Inspired by the way light behaves on moving water, the Seine lamp uses the layering and blurring effects of glass to virtually illuminate any space, while creating a dreamy, reflective atmosphere. It brings a play of light and atmosphere to any space, moving effortlessly between indoors and out.

Building on the existing Satellite collection of sculptural, playful and modernist lamps, Gubi now offers two new products: the Satellite Outdoor suspension lamp, specially designed for outdoor use, and the Satellite Outdoor floor lamp. A further step towards the outdoors for the brand, which is launching its first dedicated outdoor lighting designs.

Mathieu Matégot’s Tropique collection, with its timeless glamour, is revived by the introduction of new sunny colors and summery stripes. Designed to evoke the coastal lifestyle of the Mediterranean summer, the new upholstery options give Tropique chairs a new, appealing energy for the outdoors. The chair’s seat and back are upholstered in Leslie jacquard fabric, developed exclusively for Gubi. Suitable for outdoor use and GreenGuard certified, this textile is flexible, durable and sun-resistant.
